Quotes and thoughts, by theme

#commonplace#ideas

Lines I've read or thought that are worth keeping past the moment I ran into them. No essay structure here — just the quote or the thought, and enough of my own gloss to remember why it stuck. Grouped by theme, growing over time.

AI and differentiation

It's never been easier to learn what works. And it's never been harder to stand out. Access to the how-to has stopped being the bottleneck; everyone can get the same answer to "how do I do X" in the same afternoon. What's scarce is no longer the recipe — it's whatever made you reach for that recipe instead of a different one.

Taste, judgment, and responsibility become more valuable as AI becomes more capable. The model will execute almost anything you can specify precisely. The part that doesn't commoditize is deciding what's worth specifying, catching when the output is technically correct but wrong for the situation, and being the one who's accountable when it is wrong.
